ARTIST STATEMENT

In our film we wanted to show how one accident lead to other deaths, it was something like a domino effect. Hamlets mission is too kill the king, which is what happens at the end of the film. During this mission, he kills polonius thinking it was claudius. This accident causes ophelia to commit suicide which cause her brother leartes to go after hamlet. We tried to follow the situations of the william Shakespeare version in our film but instead made it up to date. The quotes we used was the to be or not to be speech that hamlet does. THe reason for this is because the speech emphasizes the moral of the entire play. "To be or not to be, that is the question," is a statement that can be said by each individual in the play. To be alive or not to be alive. In the film hamlet kills polonius by accident not caring if he is dead or alive. Ophelia does not want to be alive showing she is week and hamlet killing claudius shows how he wants him to be dead. The speech is saying both the positive and negative aspects of life and in our film we portray all the negative.
